Terms of Service

Effective October 1, 2026

The terms for using the Expedition Labs website and the software products we run, including Meeting Mouse for Slack.

What these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and Expedition Labs, a software engineering studio based in Los Angeles, California. They apply when you use this website, expeditionlabs.co, and when you use a software product we run, such as Meeting Mouse for Slack. By using either one you accept these terms. If you use a product on behalf of an organization, you accept them for that organization.

Consulting and engineering work for a client is governed by the written agreement for that engagement. Where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement applies.

Using the website

The website is free to read. Its engineering practices, agentic manual and blog are published so that you can read, copy and adapt them in your own work. Please credit Expedition Labs when you republish them. Our name, logo and site design remain ours.

What we publish is general information. It describes how we work and is offered without a promise that it suits your situation.

Using Meeting Mouse

Meeting Mouse is added to a Slack workspace by someone with permission to install apps there. That person confirms they have the authority to add it for the workspace. Your use of Slack itself stays subject to your agreement with Slack.

The hosted app is free while it is in beta, with a limit on how many polls a workspace can have open at once. We may change the price or the limits later, and we will post the change before it takes effect.

Meeting Mouse is also open-source software. If you run your own copy, the license in its repository governs that copy, and you are responsible for it.

Acceptable use

When you use the website or a product, you agree to the following.

  • Use them only in ways the law allows.
  • Leave their security alone. Do not probe, scan or overload them, and do not try to reach data that belongs to someone else.
  • Do not use a product to send spam, malware or content that harasses or harms others.
  • Do not resell a hosted product or present it as your own.

If you find a security problem, report it privately as our vulnerability disclosure program describes, so we can fix it before it is disclosed.

Your data

What you put into a product stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it for one purpose, which is running the product for you. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train any machine-learning model.

Our data retention, data archival and removal, and data storage policies say what is kept, where, for how long, and how it is deleted. The data deletion request procedure says how to ask us to delete it. They are part of these terms.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the website and our products running, and we do not guarantee that they will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or retire a feature or a product. When we retire a hosted product we will give notice on its website first, and stored data is deleted as the removal policy describes.

Ending use

You can stop at any time. For Meeting Mouse, removing the app from your Slack workspace ends your use and deletes what the app stored for that workspace. We may suspend or end access for a workspace or a person who breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk.

Disclaimer

The website and our products are provided as they are and as available. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about them, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Expedition Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, that arise from your use of the website or a product. Our total liability for any claim under these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the product in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.

Some places do not allow some of these limits. In those places the limits apply only as far as the law permits.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and we consent to those courts.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we post the new text on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using the website or a product after that date, you accept the new terms.
